Salaries in Fintech Set To Surge

Business Development, Inside Sales and Software Engineers see the biggest uplift in demand.

With 2024 having seen a significant uplift in funding into Fintech, last week we organised a private breakfast, to share the findings of a report we commissioned, looking at the growth of hiring in the sector, and what that means for employers.

Key insights include:

VC Funding has slowed compared to the peak years of 21-22. Similarly, new companies in Fintechs are not forming as quickly. However, with AI, now the sector is set to outgrow the rest of FS, along with integrating more and more. As a result, we expect the number of people employed in Fintech to increase significantly globally. London is uniquely well positioned, due to the city being a centre for Government, Capital and Technology.

In every job category, demand is up, and in sales & marketing, IT & risk & compliance, fintechs are scaling up, where there is increasingly ‘a war for talent.’ Overall vacancies in the sector are upwards of 70% higher than last year, this surge in demand is leading to a war for talent, and as salaries surge it is easy for companies to be caught behind the curve, and lose key personnel to more aggressive competition.

Key functions profiled to keep a close eye on include Business Development, Inside Sales, Product Management, Software Engineering, Marketing and Compliance, where the premium between existing salaries, and packages being offered is significant. Businesses wanting to secure existing teams therefore, need to ensure compensation levels are competitive, along with adopting best practices in HR Management (line management remains no 1 reason for people changing jobs), finally by utilising hybrid workflow.
